Briane Nelson Mitchell
Attorney Briane Nelson ("Nels") Mitchell brings a combination of private practice and government service experience to the Boise, Idaho law firm of Mauk, Miller & Burgoyne. Mr. Mitchell's private practice experience includes serving as a partner at several Los Angeles and New York law firms. His government experience includes serving as Law Clerk to the Honorable J. Blaine Anderson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, as well as working for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as Associate Regional Director and Regional Trial Counsel. In these roles, Mr. Mitchell was heavily involved in the investigation and prosecution of federal securities violations in nine western states, having responsibility for dozens of significant trials and serving as lead counsel in numerous cases.
Nels Mitchell has served as an Adjunct Professor and Trial Advocacy Instructor at the University of Idaho Law School, and has been a featured speaker for many professional organizations and groups, including UCLA Law School and the Securities Industry Association. He is the author of numerous professional articles on business law and litigation appearing in such publications as the Idaho Law Review, California Lawyer, Los Angeles Lawyer, and the American Bar Association's Litigation magazine.
Mr. Mitchell focuses his practice on complex litigation matters, including multi-forum lawsuits, class actions, mass torts, and special investigations in a wide variety of substantive areas, including commercial litigation, securities law, products liability, intellectual property, insurance coverage, and international litigation.
